The University of Lancashire Medical Centre will be closed from 6pm on Friday, 19th December 2025 and will re-open at 8am on Monday, 5th January 2026.

However, you can still submit medical queries via our online form for medical advice, prescription requests or other support. The only difference during the closure will be that if you need to be seen face-to-face you will be asked to attend our St Mary’s site in Penwortham. The full address is:

Going home within the UK?

If you’re a university student registered with University of Lancashire Medical Centre and returning home within the UK over the Christmas period, you can still access our services without needing to re-register with a GP near home.

• You can submit your online medical requests using our online form for medical advice, prescriptions, or other support.

• We can even send your prescriptions electronically to a pharmacy local to you to collect.

• If you need to see a GP in person while away, you can register with a local practice as a temporary resident for up to 3 months. This keeps your registration with us active.

• Any updates made to your medical records by the temporary GP will be shared automatically with us, so we’ll always have your most up-to-date information.

• We also offer remote video appointments, so you may not even need to visit another GP in person.
