Before you go
We would always recommend that our patients obtain a Global Health Insurance Card (Link) which is free and provides state healthcare that cannot reasonably wait until you return to the UK (sometimes called “medically necessary” healthcare).
We would also strongly recommend that you always have private travel insurance when going abroad – and to have this in place as soon as you book your business trip/holiday rather than obtaining it just before you go.
Whilst you are away
We occasionally receive requests for prescriptions or advice whilst our patients are out of the UK for either work purposes or on holiday.
In the vast majority of cases, our clinicians are simply not indemnified (insured) to give advice for acute conditions that arise whilst abroad and you will be advised to seek medical attention in the country you are in.
The only exception to this might be when a patient is asking for general advice about a longstanding condition, but even then we are not able to provide any medication remotely.
